Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Easy to use with a Mac
I purchased the ADVC110 to transfer some home videos to DVD. It connected easily to my iMac & I was able to transfer the video to iMovie to edit.
I have only used the video & audio RCA connectors & the video quality is quite good considering the quality of the original video tapes was not very good. I haven't used the S-video connection yet but I would assume the quality would be even better.
When it is transferring the video to the computer there is no sound, but it is there when it is played back on the computer.
It is a good idea to open iMovie first before connecting the device to the computer.
I hope to be using the ADVC110 to transfer the bulk of my video tapes, including quite a few videos on Beta tapes (yes, I still own a Betamax video tape deck) before the Beta machine decides not to work anymore!
This is a good, solidly built product at a reasonable price & I recommend it.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great product, doesn't work out of the box with a Windows laptop
This has worked great for me, fast clean video. A few warnings:

Windows laptops don't support sending power via the 6-pin firewire, even with an add-in card (like a PCMCIA card). So I couldn't get this to work without a power adapter, which I had to order separately.

The analog in/out should be a sliding switch rather than a toggle button. As it is, I have to press that button every time the power is cycled, yet I'm always using it in the same configuration (A->D)

I wish it streamed the input composite signal to the output ports, while I need to digital signal to go to my computer this device would be more useful to me if I could attach a monitor to it and be able to see the signal both on an analog monitor while it was feeding to my computer.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Product
As good as advertised. On-time delivery and it is a great product to convert all of my 18-year worth of family video diary into digital files in computer.

    Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Canopus ADVC110 - Works perfect!
Works perfect, right out of the box! I recommend the Firewire connection, so you do not need a separate AC adapter. I have a relatively new iMac with a 9 pin Firewire connector so I had to purchase a separate cable.

    Thank you!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Works better than all those less expensive gadgets
Been wanting to move my library of VHS tapes over to DVD for a long time. The problem was, I couldn't find the proper means of doing the task.
I read many reviews for software products as well as hardware gadgets from the likes of Pinnacle and Elgato but none of these were rated well for
being able to preserve the original quality of the VHS when transferring to media meant to be shown on a large screen TV.

It was by accident that I came across a recommendation for the ADVC-110. Though it was a rather expensive purchase, I felt that the reviews for
it were strong enough to take a chance on buying it.

I kid you not when I say that the day the ADVC-110 arrived I had it up and running within minutes after taking it out of the box without
    even reading the instructions.

I simply connected the ADVC-110 to my VHS player using S-VIDEO (for Video) and RCA outputs for the sound to the identical inputs on the rear
of the unit. ... Read More
