Arcticlean: ArctiClean is a two-step cleaning process that removes existing thermal grease or pads and prepares the thermal surface for a fresh application of thermal interface material. ArctiClean 1 Thermal Material Remover quickly emulsifies and dissolves the existing thermal grease or pad from the CPU and/or heatsink so that it can easily be removed with a clean cloth or paper towel. A few drops of ArctiClean 2 Thermal Surface Purifier and some gentle wiping then removes the remaining residue and inhibits flash corrosion on copper or aluminum. Do not be fooled by others trying to sell fake/generic versions of this product. Only buy 100% Authentic Arcticlean and Arctic Silver 5 by Arctic Silver! Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Best you can get.Although the set time for this thermal paste is really high (200hrs)... its the best thing around. True quality stuff. Best you can get. The cleaning and prepping agents are outstanding also. Rating: - Works great on PS3's!I have a launch PS33 and that junk was loud, talking about while watching a blu-ray you'd have to turn up the volume and you can still here the fan. After using this product my PS3 hasn't been more silent since the day I got it. Great stuff, plus instructions are on the individual bottles, foolproof. Rating: - Recently applied it to my Thinkpad t60pMy first try with Arctic Silver. Temp dropped from 76 to 71 on light duty and from ~100 to ~92 on heavy duty (graphics intensive programs). Really makes a difference. Thinkpad t60/t60p are known to have cooling problems, especially with my ATI Mobility FireGL V5250 graphics adapter. The only drawback, in my opinion, is the Silver volume is not proportional to the volume of Clean1 and Clean2. You'll probably run out of the compound grease faster than the cleaning liquid. Rating: - Caused Damage This One TimeGood product, works as advertised, but just this once I used too much and it ran off the top of my laptop's GPU and shorted some pins...I had no idea I had spilled any off of the top of the chip. Now the laptop will not start. I assumed that both Stage 1 and Stage 2 solutions were non-conductive, but I think only stage 2 is. Rating: - Well worth the moneyBackground: I have an older computer than most of the reviewers here. It's a Dell XPS400 with a 3.2GHz Pentium-D dual-core processor. These CPUs were manufactured with the older 65ns fabs, which means they consume a lot of power and generate a lot of heat. It's showing it's age now, but it's still fast enough to run Windows 7 64-bit. The Problem: Lately, I've noticed that my computer was getting louder and louder. I would rationalize it because the weather is getting warmer and I was playing some CPU intensive games. Eventually, it got to the point where it sounded like a jet engine was keeping my girlfriend from sleeping. Being the cheapskate that I am, I would rather add better cooling than to simply buy a new computer system. It then dawned to me that the computer was nearly FOUR YEARS OLD and the thermal paste had probably dried out by now. Vacuuming out and reapplying the thermal grease would be my cheapest option.
