OK! Digitech you are losing me.
I like iPhone, Interaction, Interfacing, etc..
What I don’t like is complete proprietary managed solutions.

I have been a fan of Digitech for many years,
but the products they have been introducing the past few years is really annoying.
I love products that interface together for extra features, but this has gone too far.

Here’s what it means to me:

• Must have an iPhone, iPod, iPad to use your iStomp pedal
• Must download and install Digitech Stomp Shop app
• Must then purchase, download, install each stomp model from the Stomp Shop
• Must keep up to date iTunes
• Must rely on iTunes to keep your purchases safe & proofed
• Must also have the iStomp to use your purchases
• This one’s a question, Do you also need an iStomp for each effect you want to use?

why not just buy a stomp box, seems easier and safer.
I mean who in the world wants a product that relies on several other products to function correctly.

Just for kicks I went to my iPhone 3Gs with IOS5,
Opened the appstore, searched for “Digitech Stomp”
and downloaded and installed the free Digitech Stomp app.

The big question is, How much will all this cost?
• MSRP $229.95us – $149.99us Retail for each iStomp
• Free Digitech Stomp Shop for IOS
• $4.99 / $6.99 / $9.99 for each Stomp Box Model.

So that’s approx: $165-$170 per pedal.

Now I can only speak for me, but I use at least 5 effects at one time, and several more to make certain sounds.
Several Distortions, Delay, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Noise Gate, Reverb, Pitch Control, Expression, etc..
So I would need to purchase at least 5 iStomps to get my rig going?
$800.00us + the IOS device if I don’t already have one could be a grand.
And I use even more effects then that. So as long I purchased at least 5 iStomps and 10 or so Stomp box apps
I would have a setup, then I would need to change 2 or 3 at a time to get certain sounds.
Not wise for a live setup, and to time consuming for someone with little time.

I won’t knock this invention, it is really kool.
But my question is Where are the real effects processors for people like me.
They just keep making IOS effects, No new gear like GNX4, GNX3000, or even the RP models.
I guess the RP1000 and GSP1101 will need to hold itself for a while.
As for me, I will be keeping my GNX4, GNX3000, BP200 for a while, unless something real comes out.

** After thinking about it a little more, it’s not a bad idea.
But the fact it’s limited to IOS (eg.. iPhone, iPod, iPad) is still annoying.
I think if this was programmable with PC/Windows, Mac etc… then it would make more sense to me..
As for Android I understand the complications, brought to my attention by Digitech on Facebook.
BTW, I am an iPhone user.
The fact you can upgrade this unit to a new pedal for 5 to 10 bucks is a major plus.
I still think it’s a bit over priced for a pedal, but if you need to replace one. It’s really very inexpensive.
And you can switch it back.

So if you are an IOS user, and don’t mind spending a little extra to get the extra features,
Then this is for you. On the other hand,
If you are a PC user, and do not have an IOS device, I would look elsewhere.
