I can increase the 4K & 4KQD32 by unclocking the system.
ICH10R does not like to be overclocked,
so if Storage performance is more important then CPU overclock,
then you get better performance at stock speeds with RAID0 vs OC.
|———- LOG ———-|
This build will be 6 years old this month.
has undergone many changes, upgrades, and has stood the test of time.
Many sleepless gaming nights, and benchmark wars.
Thanks for following this build.
I will be retiring this computer this month. It’s been a great 6 years tinkering with it.
Special thanks to:
EVGA, Corsair, Zalman, Western Digital, Ultra Products, Creative, and Antec.
There was only 1 RMA on this build, the X3 1600 PSU was faulty at start 2009,
and was resolved promptly by Ultra products.
The power supply has stood 100% stable running 3-Way SLI,
and will be the only component used in a future build,
other then some cables,
and the hard drives which will be re-purposed as Storage RAID0 for maximum storage speed.
This PC will still play any game on max settings, with the exception of DAYZ, and ARAM3,
and possibly other CPU intensive games.
The system will be handed down for future gaming needs.
I plan to run as many benchmarks as possible to leave for comparison new platforms,
So keep an eye on the benchmarks section.
Remounted the Corsair H50 CPU cooler on the rear exaust to make room for antec drive cage.
Organized hard drives RAID0 OS, and storage drives.
Added another one of the blacks into RAID0 Array. (rebuilt RAID0)
Upgraded from GTX285 FTW 3-Way SLI to a single GTX780 FTW ACX with 1097MHZ Boost clock.
This card is about 30/40% faster then the 3-Way SLI GTX285 FTW’s.
However with the upgrade from 1GB/GDDR3 to 3GB/GDDR5 it will max games in full resolution without issues.
Plus the addition of DX11/12, and other technologies gives this card about 200% better performance with higher settings.
Very pleased with the upgrade, And no the CPU does not bottleneck this card.
The GPU runs at 1097MHZ Boost clock, at 100% load, and gets 80-160FPS in BF3 Ultra settings @ 1920×1200.
Installed Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Series PCI card from 2008
Removed Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB

I decided to go ahead and overclock to 4.2GHZ
Trying to increase my DayZ Frames Per Second.
I get about 15 more FPS then 3.35GHZ
This should get me by for a while longer.
I was running it at 3.35GHZ Dummy/Turbo for the past 5 years.
Had stable overclocks of 4.0GHZ when needed, but never did.

So far BF3 runs at 1920×1200 med settings, some high. full AA, etc…
the game updates have corrected the issues..
Although the cards seem to be overheating now only 1 in the array.
but it can be any 1, after about an hour of intense gaming 1 card will start to slowly overheat
looking for suggestions on the issue at EVGA Forums. (Issue resolved with driver update)
Feb 10, 2011
remounted the Corsair H50 CPU Cooler without the Antec 1200 hard drive cages.
This allowed for the H50 to be moved deeper into the hard drive bay,
allowing more room in the case, and better air flow.
Dec 23, 2011
Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Ultra settings @ 1680×1050
I believe this is due to Ping, and server bandwidth issues.
Running at 1920×1200 Ultra causes lag (Multiplayer Only)
April 10, 2010
Removed Zalman 9900CNPS
Installed Corsair H50 (CWCH50)
