My trusty Microsoft keyboard 4000 took so much abuse it finally quit, it was well used.
Rather then buy a new keyboard I decided to mod an old keyboard I got back in 2002
Logitech Internet Navigator Y-BF37.
It works fine with Windows 7 64-bit, plug & Play. no Logitech driver download needed.
windows 7 has them onboard.
However drivers will need to be downloaded for previuos versions of Windows.
I originally replaced this keybaod because I wanted split keys, and the keys on this Logitech were sticking.
After a good cleaning, and oil based furniture polish the sticky keys are fixed.
I will need to lubricate the keys again before re-assembly.
The paint color is Krylon Textured Shimmer.
I will also paint the [W] [A] [S] [D] keys to match the keyboard, and mark the gaming movement keys.
just for fun, and character.
The keys were pretty stained from years of use. So I soaked them in 50/50 bleach,
and warm water for about 5-10 minutes, they look brand new.
I’m going to let the paint the cure for a few days before putting it back together.
7 days for full chip resistence, 1 hour to handle, I’ll wait 2 days or more.
